Gonna do another bullet-point review of this because it gave me more to think about than Bicycle Thief did.
-What a difference five years makes. Austin Powers ideally exists to showcase superficial differences between the 90s and the 60s while we enjoy the benefits of an economic surplus. He can't survive in a world where the towers have fallen. I'm sorry man, it just doesn't work.
-I really admire Myers' go-for-broke approach to jokes. This movie is wall to wall jokes at the expense of everything else and even when it doesn't work it sort of does because it's so charming to see somebody just hell-bent on making the audience laugh

This film marks the very first time I ever received a handjob inside of a movie theater. It’s not like I went on to get a bunch of handies at the theater or anything, there were only a few more back in that magical time. Yet, this will always be the one I remember the most. This movie feels like one of those automatically-generated YouTube videos where famous cartoon characters just move around on screen and do random, sometimes alarmingly out-of-character things. We’re pretty far from the original joke of Austin Powers being a ‘60s spy who’s a fish-out-of-water in the modern world (in fact, the modern world seems to have rebuilt itself in his image) and Dr. Evil has become shticky and quippy and just generally very unlike the stiff pseudo-Bond villain of the first film. Everyone hammers the same jokes from the first two movies into an unrecognizable paste.
