Robert Gottschalk was born on October 8, 1932, in Fort Atkinson, WI, to Julius Gottschalk and Mary (n?e Rusch) Gottschalk. Bob served in the United States Air Force, and worked on the Northwestern railroad until his marriage to the former Joyce Rohloff Scher on December 27, 1969. Joyce brought to the marriage her son, David, and three daughters, Mary, Jean, and Cindy. Robert and Joyce later went on to have an additional son, Thomas.
